Barbour skeptical about strings attached to plan

State Senator Willie Simmons (D-Cleveland) wants Mississippians to rest assured that the state will accept any and all money offered to it as part of President Barrack Obama's multi-billion dollar economic stimulus package.
"We hear a lot, through the media, about the governor not wanting the money because of certain strings that may be attached to it," Simmons said Saturday. "The citizens can be assured that Mississippi will access the money."
Local Candidates Turn to Facebook

At least a couple of candidates for local office are already using Facebook in their campaigns.
School district weighs financial concerns

The recent meeting of the Cleveland School District Board of Trustees marked the opening night of School Board recognition week. Members of the board were given plaques honoring the hard work the board members do throughout the year along with other gifts and special presentations throughout the week.
But it wasn’t all fun and games as the board learned about some of the financial issues the district is faced with.
