About Cleveland News Leader

The Cleveland News Leader first rolled off the presses in 2004 and has been growing ever since. The paper, which is known for its hard-hitting coverage of local news, has held true to its mottos, "Accountable to God, responsible to the advancement of our home," and "Regnat Populus," which is Latin for "the people rule."

Ever since the paper launched on a wet and rainy December morning, it has always offered home delivery to all corners of Bolivar County and to all parts of northern Sunflower County. Since that fateful launch, the newspaper has watched its subscriber base grow to more than 3,800 readers, with newsstand sales nearing 1,000 per month. The newspaper offers home delivery to 17 municipalities, including Cleveland, Boyle, Merigold, Renova, Shaw, Mound Bayou, Winstonville, Shelby, Pace, Rosedale, Beulah, Benoit, Scott, Gunnison, Ruleville, Drew, and Doddsville.

With in-depth coverage of local news, sports, politics and lifestyles, The Cleveland News Leader's editorial product is designed to engage the reader every Sunday morning by telling the entire story. That has contributed to The Cleveland News Leader claiming a majority share of the local newspaper display advertising market in just a little over three years.

In April of 2007, The Cleveland News Leader became the official newspaper of record for the government of Bolivar County.
