I watched Gov. Haley Barbour on Fox News this morning. He was defending his position on perhaps rejecting some $50 million in stimulus money due to stipulations that may require the state to raise taxes on businesses. I believe Barbour has a point in his hesitation to feed at the federal trough.

No further info on the racist literature placed stealthly on the doors of downtown Cleveland businesses sometime either late Sunday or early Monday. It's a sad ploy by whomever is responsible.

Early to bed, early to rise. Work like hell and advertise!

Local Election Polls

Y'all may have noticed the local election polls on our website. The polls are just their for fun and conversation. Go ahead and vote. It's totally annonymous. We'll see how close our web poll was when the real election is over.

Nazi Flyers

Some Cleveland businesses found Nazi literature stuck on their doors Monday morning. Several different flyers were left behind by an unknown perpetrator(s). The CNL was left a packet, too.

I spoke with Cleveland Police Chief Buster Bingham Monday afternoon and he advised he had approximately 25 of the flyers that had been turned into the PD. Bingham said there were no leads on who was responsible, but that the department was looking into the matter.

In my opinion, it was likely passers-through that left the vile flyers. Surely, no one locally would stoop to such levels.

If anyone has any information, please call the police at 843-3611.

How bad is the economy? Well, unfortunately, not as bad as it's going to be. I mean, General Motors, for crying out loud, is tetering on the brink of bankruptcy. So, too, is Ford Motor Company.

It's as important as ever to keep what dollars are in our community here at home. Shop your local merchants.
